CompleteWorksofShakespeareabridged ACLandRLT2012 662x1024 ACL and RLT Will Stage The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] with Rebecca Blum, Izzy Burger, and Tracey Phillips

Actors Comedy Lab and Raleigh Little Theatre will perform ?The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]? on Sept. 14-16, 20-23, and 27-30 at RLT

?Actors Comedy Lab and Raleigh Little Theatre will present a community-theater production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised], directed by ACL co-founder Rod Rich, on Sept. 14-16, 20-23, and 27-30 in RLT?s Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre. Originally written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield for California?s world-famous Reduced Shakespeare Company, The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) is an inspired spoof of all things Shakespearean. When it is hitting on all eight cylinders, Shakespeare is a comic juggernaut that romps through all 37 plays and 154 sonnets of English playwright and poet William Shakespeare (1564-1616).

According to Actors Comedy Lab:

?Actors Comedy Lab initially produced the play in 1998 with three male actors, Seth Blum, David Henderson, and Jim Regan. Now, 14 years later, the same roles will be played by three female actors: Rebecca Blum (wife of Seth and a principal member of Nickel Shakespeare Girls), Izzy Burger (last seen in RLT?s Ruthless and as the Bogle in ACL?s Jacob Marley?s Christmas Carol), and Tracey Phillips (last seen in ACL?s Dead Man?s Cell Phone).

?This is an irreverent, fast-paced romp through all 37 of the Bard?s plays in 97 minutes! Join this madcap trio of ambitious prop-laden performers as they weave their wicked way though all of Shakespeare?s comedies, histories, and tragedies in one wild ride that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter.

?A few reviews of past productions of Complete Works are: ?A madcap condensation that features non-stop laughs. Done at a whirlwind pace and with great delight, they are sure to win over even the most skeptical. Shakespeare himself ? would approve.? Daily Variety; ?Imagine all 37 of Shakespeare?s play as written by Reader?s Digest, acted by Monty Python, and performed at the speed of the ?Minute Waltz,? and you?ll have a sense of the hyperkinetic laugh fest. ?The actors breeze through Shakespeare with such revisionist relish and comic dexterity that even those who have only a general knowledge of his plays won?t be able to resist.? Los Angeles Herald-Examiner; ?Stupendous, anchorless joy!? The London Times; ?Wildly funny. Masterful!? Los Angeles Times; ?The funniest show you are likely to see in your entire lifetime.? Montreal Gazette; ?Enthralling, side-splitting stuff ? witty, entertaining and enlightening.? Melbourne Times, Australia.
