Weekend Roundup: Washington Nationals vs. Colorado Rockies

From?Alexandra Schauffler:?The Washington Nationals will wrap up their final homestand before the All-Star Break when they take on the Colorado Rockies beginning Friday, July 6. The weekend series will include the?Harris Teeter Food Drive?on Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8, during which Nationals fans are encouraged to help those in need by bringing non-perishable food items to Nationals Park.

?

Volunteers will be stationed outside the Center Field Gate from the time gates open through the fourth inning collecting non-perishable items. Fans who donate two or more items at the ballpark will receive two tickets to one of three future games (August 21, September 5 or September 7), while supplies last.

FRIDAY, JULY 6

o???Luggage Tag Giveaway presented by United Airlines:?The first 15,000 fans to enter Nationals Park through Center Field Gate will receive a free luggage tag presented by United Airlines.

o???Lou Gehrig Memorial Award Presentation to Ryan Zimmerman:?The Phi Delta Theta Fraternity will present Nationals third baseman?Ryan Zimmerman?with the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award during the pregame ceremonies. This annual award is given to the MLB player who best exemplifies the philanthropic character of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig off the field in addition to his prowess on the field. Zimmerman is the first Gehrig Memorial Award winner in the history of the Nationals or Expos franchise.

o???All-Star Jersey Presentation:?Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Ian Desmond will be presented with their All-Star jerseys for this year?s Midsummer Classic during the pregame ceremonies.

SATURDAY, JULY 7

o???On Field Photo Day:?For the second consecutive year, fans will have the opportunity to take photos of their favorite Nationals players, coaches, executives and TV/radio personalities on the field before the 4:05 p.m. matchup. Center Field Gate will open at 12:30 p.m. and beginning at 1:00 p.m., limited areas of the warning track will be accessible to fans around the outfield. The event will be held from 1:30? to 2:45 p.m.

O???Pups in the Park:?Nationals fans and their canine companions are welcome back to Nationals Park for the third Pups in the Park event of the 2012 season. Owner tickets are available for only $22, while dog tickets cost $8 and benefit the Washington Humane Society. The last Pups in the Park event will take place on Saturday, September 22 when the Nationals face the Milwaukee Brewers.
